"The Project Proposal presents a two-prong approach to the study of the polymer self-organization, which leads to complex nanostructures: (a) In the experimental part, hyperbranched amphiphilic copolymers will be synthesized and their association (together with that of other already available amphiphilic copolymers) will be examined. A special emphasis will be paid to telechelic copolymers and copolymers with hyperbranched hydrophilic moiety. (b) In the theoretical part, Monte Carlo modeling and self-consistent field theory will be used to complement experiments in elucidating the structure formation, stimuli-triggered changes, and new properties of unconventional nanostructures. Within the project, we also intend to address the so far unsolved problems of semidilute solutions of weak polyelectrolytes, which form the protective layers of the studied nanostructures in aqueous media.
