In the proposed project we will focus our attention on a key enzyme of this virus, i.e. the protease. Recently we have shown that unlike other retroviral proteases the M-PMV PR exists in three proteolytically active forms. They differ not only by the length of their peptide chains but also by their different enzymatic activity. This project is a continuation of the study of behavior and qualities of the M-PMV P that has been carrying out since 1994 following two principal directions. In the first one we plan to obtain more information about a three-dimensional structure of M-PMV PR by a combination of isotopically-aided multidimensional NMR spectroscopy, computing methods and molecular modeling.
