"In spite of the fact that the methods for the investigation of gene location are available for several years, the structure of interphase nucleus is poorly known and radiation induced changes in the space distribution of interphase chromosomes have been investigated only in several our experiments. Therefore, the main objective of the proposed research in the determination of 2D and 3D distributions of some chromosomes and cancer-related genes in interphase nuclei of several humans cell lines and the investigation of their changes after irradiation by g-rays, neutrons and accelerated heavy ions. The distributions will be determsined using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique combined with image acquisition and analysis.
