"Progress achieved in both experimentals and theoretical physics ahs brought new possibilities to studies of the meson exchange currents (MEC) in beta-decay. Experimental values of MEC enhancement of the rank-zero matrix elements in the region of light and medium heavy nuclei are in agreement with theoretical predictions. However, for the nuclei from the mass region A ~ 208 the difference between experimental and theoretical values is of about 25%. Moreover, the currently used method for determination of the rank-zero matrix elements from the experimental data is not model-independent. In collaboration with physicists from the Catholic University, Leuven, the proposal for measurements of beta asymmetry parameter from the decay of 207Tl and 205 Hg usingthe low-temperature nuclear orientation technique on the ISOLDE facility in CERN was submitted.
