"Project aims at the preparation and study of luminescence and scintillation properties of the un-doped and Ce 3+-doped RAIO3 aluminum perovskites and R3AI5O12 aluminum garnets (R = Lu-Y) in the form of the bulk single cryslals (grown by Czochralski method) or thin layers (grown by liquid phase epitaxy) prepared from high purity raw materials. Energy transfer and storage processes and the role of involved defects will be characterized by the optical and time-resolved emission spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance and thermo-luminescence. Scintillation performance of prepared materials will be tested by the radio-luminescence, scintillation decay and light yiefd measurements. Relation among the material performance, occurrence and nature of trapping states and particular production technology will be of systematic attention. The project will contribute to the development of thin (typically 10 um) scintillation detectors used in applications requiring high spatial resolution."@en . .
