"We are proposing to study theoretically spintronics phenomena in (III,Mn)V ferromagnetic semiconductors and semiconductor heterostructures and nanostructures. The field we intend to address is recognized world-wide as one of the priority research areas of solid-state physics and micro- and opto-electronics in both academia and industry. We plan a detailed analysisof limits for achieving room-temperature ferromagnetism in (III,Mn)V systems, the possibility to realize n-type ferromagnets based on these materials, magneto-tunneling phenomena in structures with a one or more ferromagnetic layers, the current induced switching effect, and genaration of spin-polarized currents in semiconductor heterostructures. The work will be based on ourstrong track record in the field of semiconductor spintronics and on extensive collaborations with world leading theoretical and experimental groups from Europe and the United States."@en .
