"The pulsed electrical discharges are used to generate chemically active species in water to degrade trace organic pollutants. Combined discharge, composed of the pulsed corona discharge in water solution and of contemporary acting gas phase corona above the water surface, will be explored. Due to joint effects of active species generated in gas phase and liquid phase discharges increased chemical activity is expected. Corona in water in point to plane geometry, volume discharge in water with composite anode and pulsed corona discharge above the water surface will be tested separately too, to support the program. The project is intended to contribute to understanding of discharge formation and evolution and elucidate transient phenomena on gas-water boundary. Physical parameters and chemical effects of the discharges will be examined. The effect of byproducts on the discharge and on induced chemical processes will be tested.
