. "In the last years, new approaches to the study of discrete non-linear systems, based on the use of special algebraic structures, have appeared. For instance, the use of the idem potent semiring (dioid) called (min,+) algebra leads to a linear descriptionof some systems with the synchronisation phenomenom and many results in the analysis and control of such systems have been obtained using this linear description. It has been shown that some properties of linear systems in dioids and linear systems in thclassical algebra, represented by systems of linear difference or differential equations and the underlying Petri net models. Then, some analogies with the discrete case should be established. In particular, the analysis of periodicity, stability and imput-output properties will be of special interest. Linear input-output relation with a transfer matrix can be applied to the optimal control of these systems.
