"The directional, cell-to-cell transport of the plant signalling molecule auxin is a unique process mediating a wide variety of developmental roles including embryogenesis, organogenesis and tropisms. Direction of auxin flow between cells depends on a dynamic polar localisation of auxin transporters from the PIN family. The decision about subcellular polar PIN localization is crucial for diverse auxin developmental roles. Our aim is to use molecular genetic approaches in the model plant Arabidopsis thalina to elucidate mechanism of cell polarity in plants by identifying molecular components of PIN polar localisation. We will perform a mutant screen for suppressors of agravitropic phenotype of PIN2::PIN1.HA transgenic line that shows ectopically mislocalized PIN1 protein. Map-based cloning of these mutants will reveal molecular components of cell polarity and protein targeting in plants as well as additional players regulating auxin-mediated development in Arabidopsis and an important crop Zea mays."@en .
