"0"^^ . "Polymer composite" . "The relations between molecular mobility and fracture toughness of thermoplastic polymer composites will be described. In addition to common structure and properties characterization, solid state NMR spectroscopy will be employed for monitoring of segmental dynamics of polymer chains and its changes caused by the filler surfaces. The results will be correlated with fracture behaviour assessed from the point of view of fracture mechanics concept. Particulate polymer composites different morphology, i.e. differing in filler size (micro vs nano particles), filler/matrix interactions and filler loading will be prepared. Both amorphous and semicrystalline polymers will be applied as matrices. This approach will allow to clarify the role of confined chains on deformation and fracture mechanisms in polymer composites. Finally, the proposed project will yield theoretical model describing the effect of filler surface on segmental dynamics of polymer chains and fracture initiation and propagation in polymeric composites."@en .
