Periodic sub-micron or nanostructures will be prepared on the dopped/non-dopped polymer surfaces (PS, PET, PMMA, PE) by excimer or semiconductor laser irradiation. The treatment parameters resulting in a formation of coherent ripples structure will be determined and their inuence to surface properties will be studied. Periodical gratings on polymers (PMMA and PS) will be formed and studied as potential photonic elements for coupling of light. Patterned or grafted (e.g. with metal particles or amino-acids) polymer surfaces will be applied for cultivation and proliferation of cells and biosensor construction. Gold nano-structures will be deposited on polymers modified by laser with the aim to study their properties for potential usage in electronics (conductive %22nanowires\u201C).
