During last years we have characterized lupulin-specific chalcone synthase chs_H1 and transcription factors from Myb, bHLH and WDR families that act in a transcription activating complex regulating this key enzyme of prenylchalcone biosynthesis. In addition, we identified Myb suppressor, bZIP and WRKY as pathway modulators. In the project we propose to analyze basic properties of combinatorial \u201Enetwork\u201Cand possible interdependence among the studied transcription factors involving their autoregulation. These functional studies will include promoter cis-elements predictions, in vitro binding assays as well as in vivo interaction analyses using transient expression systems, hop transgenotes and breeding lines with different xanthohumol levels. The proposed study is expected to provide 1. new insight into the regulation of hop prenylchalcone biosynthesis pathways, 2. novel DNA markers for marker-assisted selection and 3. biotechnology applications of hop-derived metabolome and medicinal prenylchalcones."@en .
