"The project is focused on the preparation, structure and reactivity of almost unknown class of compounds \u2013 heteroboroxines containing central MB2O3 ring, that are formally formed by the substitution of one of the boron atoms in the classical boroxines by a heteroatom M. The heavier group 13 - 15 elements will be considered as heteroatoms M, and will be stabilized by the coordination of the NCN pincer ligand L ([2,6 \u2013 (Me2NCH2)C6H3]-) within the MB2O3 ring. The topic of the project is description of preparation, structure and reactivity of these unprecedented compounds and comparison of their properties with classical boroxines. The compounds will be prepared i) by the reaction of boronic acids RB(OH)2 with oxides or hydroxides of elements M under water elimination ii) by the reaction of RB(OH)2 with corresponding hydrides of M. The investigation of reactivity will include study of hydrolytic stability, Lewis bases adduct formation and further functionalization of the MB2O3 rings.
