"GA106/98/P218" . . "The project is focussed on the computer-aided mathematical modelling of the smooth muscle tissue to describe its essential properties. As the final output of the research the mathematical model of the homogenized muscle continuum should be obtained and further assembled into the finite element model of the bladder and possibly of some other organs. Thus, the topic of the project is closely concerned with the main project 106/97/0397 %22Biomechanics of the lower part of the urinary tract%22. At the macroscopic scale the muscle is considered as an incompressible, anisotropic, homogeneous composite with the fibrilar structure substituting some properties of collagen, elastin and muscle fibres. The constitutive laws for the continuum model will be derived using homogenization of the microstructure which reflects the topology of all types of connective fibres and muscle contractile elements.
