"The project is provoked by the need of detailed fundamental research aimed at the finding and verifying the possibility to replace lead containing machinable aluminium by alloys not containing Pb. Pb is ecologicaly harmful but also detriorates alloy properties at long-termed loading and corrosion properties. The effect of selected non-toxic metals or of their combinations (Me), coupled with the other alloying elements in the systems Al-Cu-Me and A1-Mg-Si-Me, on character and morphology of intermetallicphases and on solid solution decomposition will be studied. In order to achieve better machinability, mechanical and corrosion properties the possibilities for phase and structure character regulation by means of composition and thermo-mechanical treatm ent parameters variation will be investigated. The aim is to better understand and find the decisive structural factors which affect machinability, mechanical properties and properties at long-termed loading in inert and corrosive environment."@en .
