"1"^^ . "1"^^ . "The aim of the project is to investigate Al- alloy crystallization and to assess and quantify the effect of external pressure on the structure of resulting ingots or castings. The effect will be compared of pressure conditions in a range represented by the new methods of Squeeze-Casting (including local squeeze-casting) or Thixo-Casting on the one hand and the conventional methods of die-, low-pressure or vacuum casting on the other. The investigation should yield a formulation of the dependence of theeffect of external pressure during the crystallization of castings on the structure, its homogeneity and fineness of grain and thus on resultant properties of both traditional and prospective naturally ageing Al-alloys (including their behaviour at increased operation temperatures). A comparison is proposed with the extreme opposite of the effect of increased pressure, namely with the structure and properties of these same castings when produced by the Lost-foam method, i.e. in conditions of"@en . .
