"The project is aimed to the problem of oxidation and spontaneous heating progress of coal matter contained in coal stockpiles and dumps placed outside, exposed to influence of turbulent atmospheric boundary layer. The atmospheric air flow is characterized by time dependent velocity and direction of wind and this phenomenon influences significantly the oxidation and spontaneous heating progress of coal matter contained in shape various coal stockpiles and dumps. Fluid flow problem with heat transfer and chemical reactions will be solved mathematically by finite volume method using powerful software FLUENT. The result is the complex tridimensional unsteady mathematical model simulating incipient phase of oxidation and spontaneous heating (to2000 C) of coal matter contained in porous coal stockpiles and dumps placed in the atmospheric boundary layer.
