"The main aim of the project is to gain more detailed information on the chemical nature and the behaviour of the coal with oxygen in the early stage of the spontaneous heating, close to the so called %22critical temperature of the spontaneous heating%22(CTSH, 40 - 120\u00B0C) when oxidation rate of coal sharply rises. Attention will be paid especially to the following questions: 1) What is the probable nature of the chemical processes occuring in the vicinity of CTSH and leading to the sharp increase in therate of coal oxidation; 2) How can the natural factors (e.g. coal rank, moisture content, grain size) affect the early stage of the spontaneous heating of the coal ; 3) What is the influence of the %22coal history%22 on the early stage of spontaneouscombustion; 4) How can the chemical additives affect the early stage of the spontaneous heating.
