"The project is focused on experimental and theoretical studies of so called macro-instability phenomena in mechanically stirred vessels with rotating impellers and radi\u00E1l baffles. Flow patterns (fields) emerging in such mixing vessels are non-stationary and spatially unstable. They display sign\u00EDficant pseudo-periodic variations on a spatial scale comparable to the size of the vessel. These macro-fluctuations affect all mixing processes performed in the vessel and significantly contribute to mechanical stresses in the vessel parts. The studies of the macro-instability related phenomena therefore represents substantial contribution to gener\u00E1l understanding of processes in mixing vessels. Variations of the flow pattern exhibit themselves by wall macro-jets and by occurrence of spatially and temporarily unstable secondary circulation loops.
