"The goal of this project is the investigation of the growth and morphology of polymer particles in catalytic liquid-dispersion (slurry) and gas-dispersion (e.g., fluidized bed) reactors. Particles of the industrially important polyolefins, such as HDPE (high density polyethylene), LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene), PP (polypropylene) and EP (ethylene-propylene) copolymers are the subject of our investigation. Morphology of polymer particles affects not only the rate of reaction and the polymer yield, but also processability of the product and resulting mechanical and physical properties of the end-product.
