"Low-rise wooden buildingsAs compared to other EU countries, the Czech Republic critically falls behind in residential and civic construction based on a renewable raw material - timber, which is excessively exported, accelerating thus extraction of non-renewable raw materials with all related negative ecological, energy and economic impacts. The share of timber in total residential construction in the Czech Republic is about 1.5 %, while in Western Europe it amounts to 7 - 12 %, and in Scandinavia up to 80 %. The project will be a follow-up to the applicant's and joint applicants' previous work and will focus on research of new alternative timber building systems and buildings (with up to six storeys), their construction and structural, thermal and energy, fire, acoustic, technological and economic characteristics, including selected experimental assessment.
