"AC induction machine and permanent magnet synchronous machine drives become more and more popular in industrial applications even in areas where DC motors were preferred. Algorithms for control of such drives are well known. To achieve high machine performance the machine mechanical and electrical parameters knowledge is needed and the machine have to be equipped with precise rotor speed sensor, in the case of synchronous machine even absolute rotor position sensor is required. In many applicationsin which small machines of power up to 1kW are used we deal with the problem that the mechanical sensor price is comparable or even higher than the price of the stand alone machine. The main goal of the project is intelligent algorithms development for AC induction machine and synchronous machine control without any speed or position sensor - so called sensorless control.
