"The aim of the project was to design an experimental setup for optical pumping of Rubidium vapor and production of hyperpolarized Xenon by the spin-exchange technique. The project was oriented to the optical part of the arrangement - to the power lasers"@en . "The main aim is to arrange an experimental setup for optical pumping of rubidium vapour and further production of hyperpolarized xenon (HpXe) by spin-exchange employing a spectrally narrowed high-power semiconductor laser. The production of HpXe is very attractive for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and especially Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) experiments and medical applications. It will bring the opportunity to image organs with low water content or with air spaces, such as colon or lungs. The proposed arrangement should be compact and portable enough to move it close to the site where NMR or MRI experiments with HpXe will be performed. Poor efficiency of the commercially available power semiconductor lasers due to their broad emission linewidth and thus poor matching with the absorption in Rb will be significantly improved.
