"Signal integrity substantially affects the overall reliability of the complex electrical/electronic systems. Problems with signal integrity in electronic systems are results of interactions among active solid state devices and passive circuit elementsserving as interconnection. These are namely the interconnecting nets on multi-layer printed-circuit boards in computers or controllers, cables connecting the controllers with various signal sources and sensors and long power cables carryingpulse-modulated voltages for electric rotating machines. The transient phenomena on these parts may cause an erroneous interpretation of the transmitted signals. Signal integrity is thus endangered by transients on multi-layer printed circuit boards andpower cables and by their interactions with signal sources and sensors.
