"The objective of the project is investigation convective transfer of heat (cooling, heating) or mass (e.g. drying of various materials) between a surface and a fluid flowing past it - in particular in the case of fluid jets impinging upon a wall placed opposite the nozzle from which it issues. The target is to achieve increase in the value of the coefficients by means of applying a periodic modulation of the flow from the nozzle - either by acoustic excitation or by periodic variation of the character of flow in nozzles so arranged that they admit two or more alternative flow regimes. The results will be in the form of laws that govern the increase of coefficients under these conditions. The solution is divided between four participating teams. One ofthem (university) guarantees the central co-ordination and peforms anemometric measurements in the jet flowfield.
