"*This interdisciplinary project is focused on research of surface modifications of orthopaedic and stomatological implants and external fixation elements by photocatalytically active layers with oriented nanostructure and enhanced biointegrative and anti-inflammatory functions. These oxidic layers will involve particularly TiO2 in the anatase crystal phase. We anticipate that the newly constructed layers would increase the attractiveness of the implant for the adhesion, growth and differentiation of cells, particularly those osteogenic, and would also be compatible with cells of soft tissues (skin, connective tissue).
