However, differences between lichen species might be expected, particularly when their physiological processes interact with other stressors, e.g. transition metal or high light doses. The general aim of the present proposal is to identify sensitive biochemical markers (antioxidative compounds) as well as biophysical markers (chlorophyll fluorescence parameters) of oxidative stress in lichen samples, that could be employed as early warning systems in biomonitoring programs as well as indicators of photoinhibitory stress."@en .
