Two complementary approaches will be studied: (i) capillary isotachophoresis with conductivity detection and (ii) capillary zone electrophoresis with indirect photometric detection in the visible region. Developed methods will make possible so far challenging determination of effective charge of polyelectrolytes, which absorb in the UV region, such as polypeptides, proteins, or DNA fragments. The methods will be used in the study of linear and dendritic poly-L-lysines, particularly in the inspection of effect of branching on a value of effective charge and phenomenon of charge condensation.
