"The aim of this project is the theoretical investigation of suitable geometric fundamentals (exact and approximate representations of shapes) which possess potentially a high potential for applications and which may lead in the future to more effective algorithms in computer aided geometric design and computational geometry. The planned research will be based on methods and results from several fields, such as algebraic geometry, differential geometry, symbolic computation, and others.
