"The proposed project aims to design, construction and testing of two target systems for production of the non-conventional, longer-lived positron emitters Y-86 (T1/2 = 14.7 h) and I-124 (T1/2 = 4.18 d) on the cyclotron U-120M at Nuclear Physics Instituteof the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in \u0158e\u017E near Prague. These two radionuclides are very promising tools for imaging of the metabolic and physiologic processes with slower kinetic via positron emission tomography (PET), such as biodistribution of pharmaceuticals incl. radiotherapeutics, since the half-lives of the routinely used PET emitters are too short for these purposes (< 2 h).
