"The library of Ferdinand of Tyrol, who was a governor in the Czech kingdom in the years 1547-63, most likely came into existence in the Prague castle. After 1567 when Ferdinand began his reign in Tyrol, the library was moved to Innsbruck and was expanded in Ferdinand's castle Ambras. Later, the library collection was dispersed, and we can now imagine the original contents only on the basis of existing inventories (now in the National Library in Vienna). This project would be a detailed interdisciplinary investigation of the archival documents, and would include a complete transcription of the text, exact identification of the individual inventory entries, an evaluation of the contextual completeness of individual thematic areas as represented in the library, and an attempt to rank this unique collection within a wider central European context. Preliminary research already shows the significance of the collection for the development of fine arts, architecture, the history of science."@en . . . . " medicine" . . " data bases" .
