"The main objectives of the proposed project are to perform research and analysis of operational problems related to the activated sludge population dynamics in wastewater treatment plants equipped with biological nutrient removal technologies and to contribute to improvement of technological processes in modernised and new-constructed wastewater treatment plants in the sense of recommendations helpful for elimination of common operational disturbances and failures and recommendations for process design. The recommendations will be derived from data obtained at WWTP monitoring and from laboratory testing. A specific group of WWTPs with the most common technological modifications and operational problems will be monitored in detail. The monitoring of each WWTP will cover a description of processes and technological parameters, evaluation of the overall treatment efficiency and efficiencies of individual treatment steps (incl. secondary clarifier), measurements and analyses of influent, effluent, acti"@en .
