"4655"^^ . . . . . "0"^^ . . . "4665"^^ . "The aim of the project is to apply the technology of recombinant DNA for the production of biologically significant proteins of selected animal viruses. The cloning of in vitro synthesized virus genes into plasmid vectors will yield constructions allowing the expression of a heterologous gene in E.coli and in baculoviruses. The recombinant antigens will be purified and characterized using specific antisera and monoclonal antibodies. The development of humoral and cell-mediated immunity and induction of protection against challenge will be tested in laboratory animals after parenteral administration of the recombinant antigens. Further to the knowledge gained during the preceding period, attention will be paid to selected viruses known to induce specific diseases of farm animals in the Czech Republic, as well as to those, the role of which in the aetiology and pathogenesis of animal diseases has not yet been well documented.
