"Prerequisite of successful implantation of embryo is selective damping of maternal immunity reaction against the embryo. Natural killers (NK cells) are the most important active immunological cell population on feto-maternal interface. KIR (Killer Immunoglobulin-like Receptor) belongs between inhibitory receptors of NK cells. Its interaction with ligand (HLA-G) leads to damping of cytotoxic activity of NK cells in periimplantation decidua. Leukemia inhibiting factor (LIF) is pleiotropic cytokine. Increased concentration of this cytokine in periimplantation decidua inhibits maternal immunity reaction against embryo and facilitates its implantation. We plan to find whether some alleles (their combination) of KIR and HLA-G proteins are related to worse implantation of embryo and/or to preeclampsia and aborts.
