"The project is concerned to the labeling of cells for the transplantation and to the development of new visualization techniques for in vivo studies and the synthesis of new contrast agents based on the lanthanide ions (primarily Dd3+) or containing fluorine atoms together with metal ions. Within the project experimental methodologies will be developed for MRI scanners which are available in the proposer\u00B4s laboratory for routine localization, calculation of number and function of the Islets of Langerhans transplanted into liver or other organs of laboratory animals. The research actitivites will be focused on bimodal compounds which will not have a negative effect on the islets\u00B4 function. In addition, the aim of the project is also the education of students in the area of molecular imaging through this european project with the possibility of research fellowship at foreign renowned departments."@en . . .
