"*The grant project enables the research and development of new methods to assess the quality of samples of billets and slabs introduced in the quality of steel with high added value. The first step includes a creating a digital database of special steel samples and the development of computer-based information retrieval techniques for these special digital images. In the second step, the project will address the development of methods to assess the quality of metallographic samples, including billets and slabs with the main emphasis on the quality of the center. In a third phase is planned development and production of application software with the modules that allow search macrostructure in the collections of digital photos, monitoring the quality of samples and computer evaluation of metallographic samples.
