"In this work we will use the experimental model of chicken acute monoblastic leukaemia induced by v-myb oncogene for detection of molecules involved in executing genetic programmes ( including lineage commitment, proliferation and self-renewal, differentiation, and programmed cell death), in myeloid cells and to identify those molecules relevant for the malignant phenotype of monoblasts. Attempts will be made to down-regulate expression of these molecules using the novel approach. This approachwill be based on the synthesis of sequence-specific chemical ribonucleases and their administration to cells in tissue culture. The material and information obtained in chicken model will be applied to human leukaemic cells in tissue culture. In case of encouraging results further application of chemical ribonucleases as well as the use of detected sequences ( as diagnostic probes ) will be evaluated with clinical specialists."@en .
