The function and activity of these receptors depends on covalent modification, frequently to phosphorylation. This is mediated by distinct protein kinases, e.g. by mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs).The aim of this project is to study the role of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) in the function of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and glucocorticoid receptor (GR). Consequently, the role of MAPKs in the regulation of expression of cytochromes P450 CYP1A1/2, CYP2B6, CYP2C9, CYP3A4 will be studied as well. In parallel, it will be examined whether the effects of microtubule-interfering agents (MIAs) on AhR/GR-CYP cellular signaling comprise MAPKs.
