A complex approach including physical, chemical and microbiological factors, is necessary when study P-release from sediments. Nowadays, research activities of the sediment/water boundary tend to exact localization of partial processes. Sedimentation of seston is one of the main P inputs into the sediment. During the decomposition of seston an overestimation of P-release rates can occur and without any change in P pore-water concentration. The aims of the project are: i) to identity main decomposition zones in the system of sediment/water boundary at different localities of the reservoir during the year, ii) to find and describe temporal and spatial changes of P-release mechanisms in different types of reservoirs, iii) to compare P-release rates obtained by different methods and explain the differences, and iv) to identify factors governing mobility and transport of P across the sediment/water boundary."@en .
