"The membrane-based techniques for the separation of azeotrope forming mixtures have been of interest because of the higher energetic efficacy of the separation, as compared to the azeotropic rectification methods. The project is aimed at the characterization of the mechanism of the mass transport of azeotrope forming organic-organic mixtures and their pure components in the membranes made of commercially produced polymers, which are potentially suitable for the production of industrial membrane modules. The selection of the membrane materials covers polymers having good separation properties for the studied mixtures and unclassified polymers. The goal of the project is to characterize the mechanism of transport of mixtures in the separation membranes, to identify the main modes of the separation (diffusivity selectivity, solubility selectivity), to elucidate the effect of inert in the feed mixture on the separation performance and to identify new effective separation membranes for the separation of the studied azeotrope-forming mixtures with the vapor permeation methods."@en . . .
