"Project is aimed at the study of changes within the lubrication film pressure distribution in the vicinity of deffects on friction surfaces of mechanical tribological systems (e.g. rolling bearings and gears). Defects, created on rubbing surfaces e.g. bythe indentation of particles due to the contamination of lubricant, function as stress raisers to initiate microcracks on the\u00A0surface that grow into spalls leading to fatigue failure. Colorimentric interferometry will be used to obtain deformations of rubbing surfaces from measured lubrication film thickness and to calculate the lubrication film pressure distribution. It will enable considering the effect of operational conditions and the defects geometry on surface initiated failure of machine parts.Obtained results will be used to validate current theoretical models and to predict the behaviour of real tribological systems in order to anticipate the failure of machine components."@en .
