"In the proposed project, we will take advantage of Prof. Huan-Tsung Chang\u2019s strong experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials and development of nanosensors and our expertise in the field of capillary electrophoresis - time-of-flight mass spectrometry (CE-TOFMS) to develop novel MS systems for rapid, sensitive, and reproducible analysis of a wide range of analytes in biological tissues. We will (1) develop a high-throughput TOFMS suitable for imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) of biological samples; (2) apply nanomaterials prepared by Prof. Huan-Tsung Chang\u2019s group for MS analysis of biomolecules and characterize it with respects to limits of detection, mass range and reproducibility and (3) examine feasibility of the prospective nanomaterials for IMS. Through the mutual collaboration we plan to obtain the necessary knowledge in the field of nanomaterials and their preparation.
