"Dumps with developed spontaneous burning and increased radioactivity are mostly disposed of on the basis of little founded empirical knowledge because of the lack of more exact approaches and methods which could help to optimize some stages ofmaintenance. In this view the project proposes to elaborate the dump temperature field diagnostics, to optimize dump surface cooling by air together with economical water cooling, to elaborate a mathematical model characterizing risks of delayedexplosions on the dump resulting from cooling water penetration into dump cavities and to analyze the methods of determination of coefficients of temperature and thermal conductivity of the dump material. Furthermore the project will deal withelaboration of a radiometric comparative method for fast determination of dump specific activity and harmful air pollution monitoring including the radon emanation.
