"The project goal is development and investigation of polymer light emitting diodes based on novel blends of luminescent and transport polymers. Using polymers with appropriate energy levels and by the variation of their concentrations in the blend, charge injection and charge transport will be controlled in order to improve the electroluminescence efficiency and time stability of the polymer light emitting diodes. Luminescent polymers - soluble poly(paraphenylene)s and poly(p-phenylene-vinylene)s -and transport polymers - substituted polysilylenes - will be used in the initial study. From the blends with various concentrations of polymeric components and different doping levels of low molecular additives light emitting diodes will be prepared. Their electrical and emission properties will be investigated and continuously correlated with results of photoluminescence, time-resolved fluorescence, thin film morphology, charge transport and photogeneration studies.
