"The proposed research programme is designed to carry out a complex study of the modification of ceramic surfaces by ion beam bombardment and ion beam assisted deposition of thin ceramic layers (IBAD). The influence of ions with energies of 300 - 1500 eV on surface characteristics like morphology, composition, microstructure, texture, stress etc. and consequently on properties of ceramic surfaces will be studied. The mechanical/ tribological and optical properties and chemical resistivity of ceramic surfaces will be a subject of particular interest. The activities will be preferentially aimed at ceramics studied as perspective structural and passivation materials. The project will ofFer students of the Physical Engineering study course at TU Brno a possibility to make their PhD and diploma projects in the field of modern technologies and materials science."@en . . .
