"Objectives of the project are proposed original designs of impinging jet flows. Due to complexity of turbulence and interacting coherent structures the investigations require tackling problems of basic reasearch character. The application goals are on one hand achieving the highest magnitudes of heat and/or mass transfer rate\u00A0 andon the othe hand applicability for unusual new uses, like detecting explosives and chemical agents in anti-terroris warfare (protected by recent Patent application). The new features are due to:\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0 a) effects of periodic unsteadiness, including the extreme case of synthetic and hybrid synthetic impinging jets, b) unusual configurations of the nozzle exits, including shapes capable of producing self-excited oscillation, and c) extraordinary operating conditions, extreme Reynolds numbers and ultrasound frequencies.
