The aim of this project is to identify degradation products of PAHs decomposed by ligninolytic fungi. The experiments will be carried out in liquid nutritious medium and artificially contaminated soil. The degradation will be done with PAHs possessing 4, 5 and 6 aromatic rings. Activity of ligninolytic enzymes will be determined and also activity of cytochrome P-450, which can participate in the degradation. The degradation products in liquid medium and soil will be compared, since bioavailability of PAHs can influence the mechanisms. Toxicity of the samples after degradation will also be regarded applying appropriate tests.
