Mycoremediation and composting are two favourable biotechnologies for such a clean-up of soils polluted with PAHs. The chemical analysis cannot provide a full description of bioremediation and has to be complemented by estimation of ecotoxicity using a battery of standard tests working with various organisms such as bioluminescent bacteria Vibrio fischeri, crustaceans Heterocypris incongruens, plant seeds Sinapis alba and Lactuca sativa, duckweed Lemna minor and earthworms Eisenia foetida. The tests will be modified for contact or \"\"semi- contact\"\" set-up and optimised for PAH-contaminated soil. The potential risk of contaminated soil as well as a success of bioremediation will be evaluated according to ecotoxicity results.
