"Transplantation of bone marrow stromal cells, that belong to multipotent stem cells, appears in recent years as a promising strategy for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, stroke or brain injury. Using immunohistochemical analysis together with electrophysiological measuremet we want to define the functional integration and the effect of implanted stem cells on the host tissue function in experimental models of ischemic brain damage. Excitability and plasticity of neuronal population in cortical or hippocampal structures in the area surrounding ischemic lesion will be evaluated on tissue slices, using in vitro multichannel recording. This type of recording enables simultaneous field potentials recording or electrical stimulation from 60 planar electrodes arranged with optional distance and position. Our data will add new information about stem cells transplantation and could be used for evaluation of stem cell therapy."@en . "1"^^ .
