"The project is focused on study of ribosomal RNA multiple junctions complex molecules composed of RNA motifs/submotifs. These systems consist of non-standard pairs and have specific structure dynamical properties that assert in synthesis of proteins. The proposal is aimed at description of these systems using modern molecular dynamics methods and bioinformatics, and determination of their functional roles. Structural dynamics, basepairing, specific hydration and ion binding and also molecular interactions of selected systems will be characterized on nanoseconds time scales. Computations will be complemented by sequence analysis. Based on obtained results and current experimental data functional roles of selected junctions in proteosynthesis will be suggested. Characterization of ribosomal RNA motifs/submotifs represents a significant task because these structures do not occur only in the ribosome but also in other RNA molecules where they assert in key processes."@en . .
